Spent 2 years posting my art on Instagram, switched to a personal site last month and actually got clients
I used to think I needed the algorithm to see my work. Chased likes, posted 3 times a day, did all the reel trends. Got maybe one commission every 3 months. A friend told me to just make a simple portfolio with a contact form and share it on Reddit and Discord instead. First week I had 4 people reach out. One of them paid me $600 for a book cover. Did Instagram just die for artists or did I miss something?

Instagram trains you to make content for strangers but a personal site shows you can actually deliver for clients.
