Rant: I dropped $120 on a 'professional' art tablet stand and my neck still hurts
So last month I finally splurged on one of those fancy adjustable drawing tablet stands that all the big digital art youtubers push. It was $120 at a local art store here in Denver and the guy at the counter swore it would fix my posture and make long sessions way easier. Two weeks in, the hinge started slipping every time I put any pressure on it, so my screen kept flopping flat mid-stroke. I tried tightening the screws with the little allen key it came with but the plastic housing cracked after about three adjustments. Now I'm out $120 and still hunching over my desk like a goblin, plus I wasted a whole weekend trying to make it work instead of actually drawing. Has anyone found a stand setup that actually holds up for long sessions, or am I better off just stacking books under my monitor like I used to?

Went through almost the same thing with a $90 stand off Amazon, so I feel your pain, but I have to disagree that stacking books is the better move long term. In my experience the book stack works for like a week and then you start slouching again because you can't adjust the angle at all, and you can't get the screen close enough to your face without leaning in. The real fix for me was skipping the "art" branded stands and getting a heavy duty monitor arm that clamps to the desk, mine was about $40 and it holds a 12 pound tablet no problem. The art store markup on those things is brutal, you're basically paying for the logo and a youtube sponsorship. Your mileage may vary depending on your desk, but a steel arm with a real clamp beats plastic hinges every time, and you can still stack a book under your feet if you want.
