Overheard someone say shadows are just dark edges, now I see everything different
I was scrolling through a showcase thread last night and read a comment from someone who said they spend 10 minutes on every piece just adjusting the shadow opacity. At first I thought that sounded excessive, but then I tried it on a portrait I've been stuck on for weeks. I dropped my shadow layers from 80% to around 35% and suddenly the whole face had depth instead of looking like a cardboard cutout. It's wild how one tiny setting change can shift the entire mood of a piece. I've been doing digital art for about 6 years now and never paid that much attention to shadow softness before. Anyone else have a small tweak that completely changed their workflow?

Wait, did changing opacity fix your core lighting too, or just the edges?
