One critique about my color grading changed my whole portfolio
I posted a piece in the showcase thread last Tuesday and someone said my shadows looked like mud, which stung at first but they were totally right. I started pulling my blacks way too early and now I keep the histogram open every pass, it feels like a cheat code for cleaner depth. Has anyone else gotten a harsh comment that turned out to be the best feedback they ever got, and how long did it take you to act on it?

Oh man, that reminds me of a buddy who posted a wedding photo and someone said his skin tones looked like they were shot through a foggy window. He was mad for a week, then checked his monitor calibration and realized the whole thing was off. Took him two months to actually fix it, but now he swears by that stranger's comment.
