My expensive tablet pen is still in the box after eight months

I bought a $200 replacement stylus for my old Cintiq, thinking it would motivate me to draw more. It's been sitting there since last summer, completely unused. Anyone else buy a tool hoping it would spark a habit that never happened?

The assignment was to sketch a simple still life with three apples. I mean, I spent like two hours just trying to get the shading right on the green one. To have the whole thing called "unrecognizable" by the professor is just wild to me. Maybe it's just me but I can see the apples clear as day.

My art teacher in high school once told me my pear looked like a sad potato. I feel for you, @hannah_fox. Some people just don't see it.
