Hit 500 followers on my art page and it felt weird

I've been posting my digital paintings on Instagram for about 8 months now, mostly just character sketches and fan art. Last night I hit 500 followers and honestly it caught me off guard because I never really paid attention to the numbers before. Does anyone else get that weird mix of proud and awkward when you hit a milestone you weren't chasing?

Oh I actually see it totally different! Numbers are just numbers unless you let them mean something to you. I hit 500 followers a few months ago and it didn't feel weird at all, it just felt like a nice little pat on the back for putting my stuff out there. You earned those followers by sharing your art, so there's nothing awkward about being proud of it.

Wait, you actually paid attention to the numbers? I don't have mine on, I just post and hope people like it. 500 feels huge to me though, I'd probably freak out too.
