Had an issue with my latest art drop at the local gallery show

I was at the Riverside Artists Collective show last Friday and my tablet pen stopped working right before my demo. It kept skipping strokes and I was already 10 minutes into a 30 minute slot. I ended up switching to my backup Wacom that I keep in my bag for just this reason, and it saved the whole thing. Has anyone else had a stylus fail at the worst possible time?

Backup gear is just extra stuff to carry around, and honestly that panic moment where you have to adapt is what separates real artists from people who just rely on their tools.

First time I had a mixer die mid-set at a house party, I just had to reroute everything through a little battery powered speaker I had in my bag. It sounded awful but people were still dancing because they didn't care, they just wanted the music to keep going. Ever since then I stopped worrying about having perfect backup gear and just started carrying one basic adapter and a cheap aux cord. That panic moment taught me more about signal flow than any tutorial ever did, honestly.
