Can we talk about how I used to ruin my timelapses?

I used to just hit record and hope my tablet didn't lag, which it always did around minute 5. Then I tried setting my canvas to half resolution before recording, and the playback came out buttery smooth. Switched about 2 weeks ago after my 3rd failed attempt on a portrait that took 6 hours. Anyone else got a trick for keeping framerate steady without dropping quality?

Ugh same thing happened to me with a 4 hour sketch last week, so frustrating.

Funny how everyone assumes it's always about forgetting to save, but with @anna983, maybe it's a software glitch that only hits certain files. Actually had a friend who lost hours of work because the program had a hidden autosave conflict - it was saving corrupted versions every time. Ever check if your file size suddenly dropped right before the crash? That's usually the tell. Sometimes it's not user error but the tool itself being the problem, which nobody wants to admit because we paid good money for it. Might be worth digging into your crash logs if you still have them, some programs hide useful error codes in there.
