After 3 failed prints of the same character, I tried flipping my reference image horizontally and suddenly the proportions made sense.
Can't believe I never thought to just mirror the photo before - the left side of my digital sketch always looked off until I did that and realized I'd been subconsciously favoring one side of the canvas the whole time, anyone else have a weird trick like this that fixed a persistent issue?

The "subconsciously favoring one side" thing is real, though I'd gently push back on flipping the reference as a fix for that. What actually helped me was working on a disorted canvas for a month, scaling the left side to be physically smaller than the right. It forces your brain to adjust how you see the whole thing. The mirror trick is good for spotting mistakes, but it doesn't train your hand to stop making those mistakes in the first place. You still end up having to fix the same proportions later on the original side. Did you try just flipping your canvas back and forth while you drew to build that balance into your muscle memory?

Tried the flip thing myself, @victor_carr25, and honestly it just made me dizzy without fixing much.
