Tried a cheap injector puller off Amazon and it messed up my whole weekend

I picked up this $35 injector puller for my 6.0 Powerstroke last week because I was tired of borrowing my buddy's. First injector came out fine but the second one the jaws slipped and I gouged the bore pretty bad. Took me like 4 hours with a brake hone to clean it up enough to get the new injector to seat right. Ended up spending more on the tool than I would have if I just rented the nice OTC one from the parts store. Has anyone else had bad luck with those budget puller kits for HEUI injectors?

Oh man, I've been there (unfortunately). That same cheap puller got me on my 7.3, slipped right off the injector and I nicked the bore so bad I had to wait two days for a reaming tool. The OTC unit is worth every penny because those jaws actually clamp tight instead of spreading open. I learned the hard way that the budget ones just don't have enough grip on the injector body, especially if there's any carbon build-up. Now I just borrow the good one from the parts store, it's way less headache than trying to fix a gouged bore on a Saturday.

yo that exact thing happened to me with my 6.0 last spring, the jaws just popped off on injector 3 and I put a nice groove in the bore that took forever to sand out. I ended up having to pull the head anyway because I couldn't get the new injector to seal no matter how careful I was. those cheap pullers are pure garbage on HEUI trucks, the clamp design is way too weak for the torque you need. I finally broke down and bought the OTC one and its night and day how much better it grips.
