Saw the difference between a 12-valve and a common rail pump tear-down this week

I've been working on diesels since the early 2000s and still remember when swapping an injection pump was a straightforward afternoon job. This week I helped a buddy pull apart a common rail pump from a 2015 Ford and the difference in complexity is wild. All those tiny passages and the high-pressure sensor setup took three times as long to get right. Has anyone else noticed the learning curve getting steeper with the newer emissions stuff?

Just take your time and read the service manual.

Nah, @harper_owens, sometimes you just gotta dive in and figure it out as you go.
