Saw a guy trying to torque head bolts with a ratchet yesterday

I was helping a buddy swap a 6.7 Powerstroke at his shop near Akron and this new guy walks in, claims he's been turning wrenches for 10 years. He was cranking down on those bolts using just a 3/8 ratchet and a prayer, no torque wrench in sight. How many of you have seen someone skip the torque specs and just send it?

Watching people skip torque specs always makes me wonder if they rush everything else in life the same way.

I actually read something from a mechanic on another forum who said skipping torque specs is the number one thing that leads to comebacks and warranty claims. He mentioned that even something as simple as an oil pan drain plug can cause a $1,000 repair if you overtighten it and crack the pan. Idk maybe it's just me but I'd rather spend the extra 10 seconds than deal with that headache later.
