PSA: My uncle told me to always check the lift pump pressure first, and it saved me a whole weekend.
I mean, I was sure my 7.3 Powerstroke had bad injectors because it was running rough and had no power. My uncle, who's been a fleet mechanic for 30 years, told me over the phone to hook a gauge to the fuel bowl port before I did anything else. I did, and the pressure was way low, maybe 30 psi. Turned out to be a cracked fuel line letting in air. If I'd pulled those injectors first, I'd have wasted two days and a bunch of money. Has anyone else had a simple piece of advice from an old timer save their butt on a big job?

Wait, your grandpa gave you the same advice? How old is this guy? That advice must be ancient, but I guess it still works. It's wild how the simple stuff from their generation holds up. Makes you wonder what we're getting wrong now that they had figured out back then.
