Overheard a guy say he never changes his fuel filters on schedule
Was at a parts counter in Tulsa last week and this older driver was telling the clerk he only swaps his fuel filters when the truck starts acting up. Said he's been doing it for 20 years. Made me think about how many guys actually follow the maintenance schedule versus waiting for problems. How often do you guys change yours?

Gotta disagree with that guy though. Waiting until it acts up is risky, you can get water in the injectors or trash clogging stuff up long before it starts missing. I stick to every other oil change on my truck, cheap insurance vs a tow bill.

I learned that lesson the hard way on my old Ford. Had a fuel filter get so clogged it killed the lift pump on a trip to the coast, ended up stuck for 4 hours waiting on a tow. Now I just swap them out every 15k miles no matter what, takes me maybe 20 minutes and costs like 25 bucks. That one tow bill taught me more than any manual could. Have you ever had a filter fail on you?
