Just found out my shop compressor was running 40% over capacity for 2 years
I was checking the serial numbers on my old Quincy compressor last week and looked up the manual online. Turns out the pressure switch was set to 175 psi when the tank is only rated for 125 psi. How often do you guys actually verify your compressor specs against the tank rating?

Hidden stress"? Ha, that pressure switch has been living its best life at the gym for two years, I'm more worried it's going to start bench pressing the tank next

Jeez, that's a scary discovery to make after two years. I'm glad you caught it before something serious happened. So now that you know the switch needs to be adjusted, are you going to just lower the pressure setting, or are you thinking about replacing the entire switch to be safe? I feel like any part that's been holding that much extra pressure for that long might have some hidden stress on it.
