Found out my torque wrench was 35 ft-lbs off after a calibration check last Friday

I brought it into the shop for a routine service and the guy showed me the reading on his machine, I had been over-torquing injector hold-downs for probably 6 months without knowing it. Has anyone else ever had a calibration surprise that made you question all your previous work?

Honestly I had the same thing happen with my inch-pound wrench a few years back and it messed with my head for a while. What helped me was just keeping a notebook in my toolbox to log every torque job with the wrench I used and the date, so I could go back and check if anything seemed off later. Ngl it made me way more careful about checking calibration every 6 months now instead of hoping it was still right.

Bro that's rough, same thing happened to me with my beam style wrench last year - was torquing heads to 85 when it was actually reading 70 the whole time. Still paranoid about every bolt I've touched since then lol.

Check the calibration date @the_elliot, bet it was your shop's fault not the tool.
