Why does nobody talk about networking groups that fizzle out after 3 months?
I joined a Detroit small business group back in March, and the first two meetings were packed with energy and referrals. By June, only 4 people showed up and the organizer stopped replying to emails. Is it just me, or do these groups always fall apart once the initial hype wears off? What keeps yours going?

Honestly think the real problem is nobody wants to be the glue. Everyone shows up expecting referrals to just rain down without actually putting in the work to keep the group alive. The organizer probably got burnt out because they were doing everything while everyone else was just coasting. Might be time to ask yourself if you're willing to be the person sending reminder texts, pulling in new faces, and keeping conversations going when nobody else feels like it. Groups fall apart because people treat them like free vending machines not a garden they have to water. What's the point of joining if nobody is ready to step up when the excitement fades?

Have you tried setting up a rotating schedule where each member takes a turn being the "host" for the month? Like someone handles the agenda, another brings snacks, someone else chases down no-shows. In my experience, groups die when one person carries everything and everyone else just shows up expecting magic. The trick is making it stupid simple for people to contribute, like having a shared Google doc where they can drop leads or questions between meetings. If you're the one wanting it to work, maybe text the 4 people who still came and ask if they want to take turns leading for a bit. That way nobody gets burned out and the group has a pulse through the quiet months.

Yeah I was just reading something about how mastermind groups work best when everybody has a specific job, even if it's small. I mean it makes sense, people feel more invested when they actually have to do something. idk maybe it's just me but those shared docs really do help keep things going when nobody wants to be the main person.
