Why does nobody mention that networking event tip about parking validation?

I went to that big Detroit mixer at the Ren Cen last month and someone from the Chamber told me to always ask about parking validation BEFORE buying a ticket. I figured whatever, it's just parking. Well I showed up and validation was only for members, so I paid $28 to park for two hours. Has anyone else ever asked about this upfront or am I just the only one who learned this the hard way?

Just started making it a habit to DM the organizers on LinkedIn before buying tickets lmao. Saved me $20 last week at the Dearborn tech meetup when they gave me a coupon code for member pricing.

That feels sketchy to me honestly. You're basically asking for a coupon like you're some kind of VIP when you haven't earned it yet. Organizers put time into pricing things for a reason and hitting them up on LinkedIn just to save a few bucks comes off as cheap. Plus now they know your name and might think you're gonna be a pain at the actual event asking for free drinks or something. Pay the full price like everyone else unless they offer the discount publicly.
