Went to a Detroit networking breakfast last Tuesday and got handed a business card with no name on it
I swear this actually happened. I go to this monthly thing over on Gratiot, mostly small business owners and people looking for leads. This guy walks up, shakes my hand, gives me his card and the whole front just has his phone number and a logo I didn't recognize. No name, no title, no website. I turned it over thinking maybe it was on the back and that was blank too. I kind of laughed and asked him what his name was and he goes "oh you can just call me" and walked away. I waited ten minutes and threw it in the trash. Has anybody else gotten a weird card like that at one of these things? Makes me wonder if some people just don't get how networking works.

Maybe the whole point was to see if you'd actually call instead of just filing the card away with the others. Kind of a weird test to see who's really following up versus just collecting paper. Could be a dumb gimmick but maybe it actually filters for people who pay attention.
