Tried the 25 cent coffee meetup in Corktown and got 40 people I never planned for
I run a small web design shop in Ferndale and wanted to meet other owners, so I posted a free coffee thing at a spot on Michigan Ave in Corktown last Tuesday at 7am. Forty people showed up, way more than the 8 I figured, and I ended up buying $180 in coffee and muffins. The lesson was that free and 7am filters out almost nobody in this town. Has anyone run a paid or capped event and seen a smaller, more useful room, or does everyone just eat the cost?
