The $600 trade show booth that brought me 9 real leads

I skipped the fancy expo booth last month and rented a basic 10x10 space with a table and banner instead. Paid $600 total including the electrical drop and Wi-Fi, which felt dumb until I actually talked to people. Turns out the buyers stopped at my table because I wasn't hiding behind a video wall, and they wanted to see the actual HVAC filters I brought. Now I'm wondering if I should skip the big shows altogether and just do the smaller industry meetups. Has anyone else seen better returns on the cheap setup over the flashy one?
