Met a guy named Dave from a local marketing firm over coffee at Urban Bean Co on Woodward last Tuesday. He told me I was wasting time chasing big leads instead of building real connections with 3 or 4 small business owners each week. Now I focus on just 2 follow-ups a day instead of 10 cold emails. Oh man, your story totally reminds me of something that happened to my friend Jenna. She runs a little bakery over on the east side, and for months she was sending out these big batches of emails to like 50 local cafes trying to get them to stock her pastries. Nothing. Then she started just hanging out at one cafe every Tuesday morning, chatting with the owner about sports and weather. After a few weeks he asked if she could bring in some samples for a weekend special. Now she sells to three different places just from those coffee meetings. It's crazy how just showing up and being a regular person beats blasting emails every time.
