Old mentor's advice blew up my whole pitch deck strategy

A retired GM supplier guy told me to skip the 40-slide deck and lead with the profit numbers first, I ignored him for 3 months, lost a potential $15k contract at a Dearborn meetup, and now I'm rebuilding it his way, anyone else regret not listening to the veterans in this city?

$15k is a brutal way to learn that lesson. Old guys in Dearborn know their stuff, I've learned that the hard way too.
