My go-to networking group fell apart after the leader moved away last month

Half the regulars stopped showing up and now I'm stuck debating whether to start a new group from scratch or just join one that's already running, what's worked for you when your main networking circle broke down?

Honestly, why not just take a break from groups for a while? I've seen too many people waste time rebuilding something that probably wasn't working that great to begin with.

How many times have you seen someone try to revive a group that was already on life support, and it just ended up being more frustrating than it was worth? There's usually a reason a group falls apart, and it's rarely about bad timing or one bad session. If the core people weren't clicking or the system was a mess, taking a break doesn't fix that. Most folks just end up drifting back to the same problems six months later. Is it really about saving the group, or just not wanting to admit it's time to move on?

Maybe trying to revive a dead group is like trying to fix a broken AC unit with duct tape - it'll run for a bit but you know it's gonna die again. @the_elliot pretty much nailed it about the core issues not just magically fixing themselves. Honestly, joining an existing group sounds way less painful than dragging people back to something that already fizzled out. I'd say take a breather and see what else is out there before committing to another round of herding cats. At least if the new group sucks you can bail without feeling like you let anyone down.
