I finally looked up how many small businesses Detroit actually has and the number blew my mind
I was reading a report from the Detroit Regional Chamber last week, and it said there are over 70,000 small businesses operating in the city. I mean, I knew it was a lot, but that's a huge number of people trying to make connections. It really hit me that the networking scene here is way bigger and more spread out than just the usual downtown events. Has anyone else found a good spot or group that actually pulls in folks from all those different areas?

Try the Chamber's small business meetups across the city.

Yeah, those Chamber meetups are a solid start. I've been to a few over in the Corktown area and they do pull a good mix. But honestly, the real connections I've made came from just showing up to the same coffee shop or hardware store every week. You start seeing the same faces, the other regulars who are also running their own thing. It's less formal, but you end up meeting people from all over, not just the ones who sign up for events.
