Hot take: the $45 breakfast at that Corktown diner did more for my pipeline than 2 months of coffee meetups
I've been doing the usual Detroit networking grind for a while now. Chamber mixers, LinkedIn groups, grand openings in Midtown, all that. Met a ton of people, collected a stack of cards, got almost zero real work out of it. Last month a guy I barely knew invited me to a 7am breakfast at a diner in Corktown with four other owners. No pitch, no agenda. Two of those guys sent me referrals inside three weeks. I think the smaller table just makes people actually talk instead of working the room. Got another one of these Thursday and I'm bringing a real problem, not a sales line. Has anyone else had better luck with tiny early morning groups than the big evening events?
