PSA: My Denver Water bill jumped from $62 to $118 and I finally found out why
I got my Denver Water bill yesterday and it said $118.43, which is almost double the $62 I paid in March. I sat there staring at it for a full minute before I even opened the envelope. Turns out my sprinkler system had a slow leak in one of the zones and I never noticed because it just looked like the grass was a little damp. The guy they sent out said it was losing about 400 gallons a day, which added up to like 12,000 gallons over the billing cycle. I felt so dumb because I walk past that zone every morning. He showed me how to check the meter while the sprinklers are off and it was spinning like a top. Now I'm paranoid and checking it every Sunday. Has anyone else had a hidden leak eat their water bill like this, and did you fix it yourself or just call a pro?
