My Denver bungalow's 1920s wiring finally hit 47 outlets and I'm losing it
So I finally sat down and counted every outlet, switch, and hardwired thing in my house near Sloan's Lake last weekend, and the number came out to 47. Forty seven. In a house that was built in 1923 with maybe six circuits total. I knew it was bad because my breaker panel looks like a spaghetti pile, but seeing the actual count made me want to cry. The old knob and tube is still feeding the bedrooms, and every time the AC kicks on the lights in the back room flicker like a horror movie. I've been slowly redoing runs with 12 gauge romex on my own, but I'm not an electrician and I keep second guessing myself on box fill and whether the old wires in the walls are even safe to leave dead. I got quoted $4,800 to rewire just the upstairs half and I honestly don't know if that's fair for the Denver market or if I'm being taken for a ride. Anyone here dealt with a house this old around here, and how many outlets did you end up with when you finally counted?
