My crawlspace sump pump quit during the July 4th rain and I found the fix at a King Soopers at 11pm
So back on July 3rd we got that big storm here in Denver and I go down to the basement to grab a box of Christmas stuff and there is standing water. Not a little. Like two inches across half the floor. My sump pump in the crawlspace just quit. I had no backup, no battery, nothing. Went to three places that night and everything was closed or sold out because of course everybody else had the same idea. Finally hit the King Soopers on Leetsdale at like 11pm and they had exactly one utility pump left in the seasonal aisle, $58. I rigged it up with a garden hose out the basement window and it ran all night. Here is the funny part. The old pump did not die. A plastic bag from a grocery run got sucked against the intake and choked it out. Ten minutes of clearing the float and it fired right up. So now I own two pumps and a new rule that I check that pit every single month. Has anybody else had a bag or a toy jam theirs up, or am I the only one who almost flooded a finished basement over a stray bag?
