I almost skipped the $500 attic insulation upgrade and it would have cost me way more later
For two years I kept putting off attic insulation because $500 felt like too much for something I'd never see. Then last winter my upstairs bedroom sat at 61 degrees while the thermostat read 70. A neighbor on our street in Park Hill had the same setup and got his done first. His gas use dropped about 30% that season and mine went the other way. When I finally had a guy come look, he pulled up the old stuff and it was basically flat, maybe R-11 at best. New blown-in got us to R-49 and the upstairs finally feels like the rest of the house. Should have done it the first winter. Anyone else put off a cheap fix until a bad season forced the issue?
