A contractor told me my permit was wrong, so I redid my whole basement plan
Last June I pulled a permit for a basement finish in my 1950s ranch near Sloan's Lake and thought I was set. The inspector came out and said my egress window was 2 inches too high and the whole thing failed. I was mad for a day, then hired a different guy who told me to drop the ceiling to 7 feet 6 inches so I could run the ductwork straight. I spent $1,400 fixing it but passed on the second walk with zero issues. That one comment about the 2 inches saved me from ripping out drywall later. Anyone else get a rough inspection that actually made the room better?
