Went to a salvage yard in Dayton and found brand new tires still with nubs for $40 each

Everyone says to avoid used tires, but I pulled four Michelins off a wrecked 2023 sedan that barely had 500 miles on them. Has anyone else found real steals at a junkyard or is this just a dumb luck thing?

Oh man, I found a set of basically-new all-seasons once and only realized after mounting them that they were 12 years old so the rubber was a rock hard death trap. Guess that's what I get for trusting a junkyard bargain!

Did you check the date code before you mounted them or did you learn that lesson the hard way? I always check the little oval with the DOT numbers now after almost killing myself on some old tires. Those 12 year old ones are basically hockey pucks with tread.
