Wasted $40 on a fake HDMI cable on Amazon
Bought a 'high speed' HDMI cable from a third party seller on Amazon last month for my 4K TV. Hooked it up and the picture kept cutting out every 10 minutes. Checked the reviews again and realized half were bots. Felt stupid when a $10 cable from Best Buy fixed everything. Anyone else get burned by fake cables on there?

Is this really worth getting worked up over a $40 cable though? I mean yeah it sucks to get scammed but we're talking about a wire not a kidney or something. You fixed it for $10 and moved on with your life, right? The real lesson here is just don't buy tech accessories from random Amazon sellers with sketchy reviews in the first place.

Stick with brand name cables from now on honestly. @morgan_butler that's basically what you got, a magic cable that picks and chooses when to work lol. I had the same thing happen with a USB-C cord from some random seller, took me forever to figure out it wasn't my laptop. Best advice is to check the seller's return policy before you buy, if it's some generic return address in China then run. Ngl I still check reviews on Amazon but I only trust verified purchase ones now and I look for any that mention 'cutting out' or 'signal loss' because that's the telltale sign of a fake cable.
