Just realized my vacuum seal bags were costing me more than they saved

Bought a 20 pack off Amazon for $15 last month. Three of them ripped at the seal on first use. Lost a whole batch of frozen chicken thighs from Costco, that was like $25 down the drain. Anyone found a brand that actually holds up more than twice?

Man that stings. I swear those bags are made out of the same stuff as cheap trash bags these days. I had a whole pack of pork chops turn into freezer burnt hockey pucks because the seal let go on me. The worst part is you gotta pay for the chicken AND the bag that failed you. Have you tried the FoodSaver brand rolls where you cut your own size? They seem to hold better than the pre-made pouches.

Yeah @jason524 hit it on the head with the "pay for the chicken AND the bag" part, that's the real kicker. I switched to the cut-your-own rolls too and it's night and day - the seals actually hold up. Plus you don't waste a whole bag on a tiny piece of meat.
