I finally dumped my $60 monthly coupon app after it cost me $87 in missed savings last month
I signed up for a coupon app that promised to track deals for me across 12 stores. Twelve! Sounded great. I paid $60 a month for 8 months. Last month I added up what I actually would have saved by just checking the weekly flyers myself. It was $87 more than what the app found. I wasted $480 and lost $87 in savings I could have had. The app kept pushing me deals on stuff I never buy, like protein powder and essential oils. I canceled it last Tuesday. Now I just check the grocery store app and the drugstore app on Wednesday mornings. That takes me 10 minutes and I already saved $23 this week. Has anyone else paid for a deal app and felt like it was just a list of ads?
$480 down the drain for protein powder ads, that's rough. Deal apps mostly sell your attention to brands, not find you real savings. Ten minutes with the store apps beats that any day.
