Guy at the Sacramento flea market got me to stop buying new drill bits, saved me $60 this year
I ran into a retired machinist at the Sacramento flea market about 2 months ago while I was digging through a $1 bin of old bits. He asked why I was buying new ones and I told him I go through them fast on rough lumber jobs. He said bring your dull ones to a sharpening guy once a month instead, costs about $15 for a whole bucket. I did the math and I was spending $60 to $70 a year on new sets I did not need. Dropped my whole coffee can of dull bits off at a sharpener on Folsom Blvd 3 weeks ago and got back 40 like-new bits for $18. Anyone else got a hookup for sharpening stuff instead of just replacing it? Curious what the turnaround is for other people, mine took 5 days but I only had one bucket.
