Warning: I just found out the 'Manager's Special' meats at Market Basket get marked down at 7AM not 9AM like I thought
So I've been showing up at 9AM thinking I'm early for the discount meat deals (you know, the ones with the yellow stickers). Turns out I've been missing them by 2 hours this whole time. I asked the meat department guy at the Salem NH store and he said they start marking stuff down right when the store opens at 7. By 9AM the good stuff is already gone. I grabbed a pack of chicken thighs for $2.50 last week at 7:15 but now I'm wondering what else I've been sleeping through. Anyone else find out a store secret that changed when you shop?

Oh man, and here I was thinking I was so clever rolling in at 9 with my coffee thinking I'd beat the crowd. I guess the real early birds are the ones who don't even need coffee yet. Now I'm wondering if the deli counter has a secret handshake time for their markdowns too, maybe I should just camp out in the freezer aisle overnight. I bet the 7AM crowd is like some exclusive club where they all nod at each other over the discounted ground beef. Guess I'm setting my alarm for 6:30 from now on, my sleep schedule is about to get wrecked for $2 chicken.

Listen, my buddy Dave told me he tried that 7AM thing once and it backfired completely. He said he walked in all proud holding his coffee and saw this older lady eyeing him up like he was a rookie, turns out she's been snagging the manager's special steaks since 6:45 every Tuesday for like ten years. I think Angela Allen53 is right about it being a secret club, because Dave said the deli guy actually gave him a little nod when he grabbed the last discounted roast chicken and he felt like he'd officially made it. But the problem was, he got so into the early bird life he started showing up at 6:30, and then he realized he was just standing there watching them stock shelves for twenty minutes like a weirdo. He said the freezer aisle camping idea isn't as crazy as it sounds, cause one guy actually brought a little folding stool and was just sitting there scrolling on his phone by the frozen pizzas. It's honestly a whole different world before 8AM and I don't know if my sleep is ready for that kind of commitment, even for cheap chicken.
