Warning about those Shaws digital coupons that say 'limited quantities'

I tried to use the $5 off a $30 purchase digital coupon at Shaws in Concord last Tuesday and the cashier told me that store already hit their limit for the week. The coupon was still active on my app but the system wouldn't take it. I learned you need to go early in the week on Monday or Tuesday morning or you risk it being used up. Has anyone else had a coupon that showed as valid but got rejected at the register?

Went through the same thing at a different grocery chain, turns out some stores will manually disable the coupon code in their system once they hit a certain redemption count even if the app still shows it. Might be worth asking customer service next time instead of the cashier because they can sometimes override it if you complain enough.

I'm gonna push back on that a little. I actually like how Shaws handles it because it forces the store to honor the full coupon value for a set number of customers instead of letting the corporate office keep it active and then having the store eat the loss for weeks. It's the same thing with those Target Circle offers that disappear mid-month, @jamienguyen, its just a different way of allocating the deal. If you get there late and miss it, that's on you for not being first in line, not the store for shutting it down. I'd rather have a hard cutoff than a coupon that works for some people but not others depending on which cashier you get.
