The $20 rainy day yard sale gamble that paid off big in Portsmouth
Hit a soggy yard sale on Islington Street in Portsmouth yesterday where everything was dumped in wet cardboard boxes, and I had to pick between a rusted tackle box for $20 or a stack of old board games for the same price. I went with the tackle box since the seller swore it was full of "old junk" and I figured wet cardboard would wreck the games anyway. Got it home, dried it off, and it turned out to be packed with old fishing lures, some still in their original boxes, plus a decent filet knife buried at the bottom. I don't even fish but my brother already offered me $80 for the whole thing. What would you have grabbed, the games or the tackle box?
