Switched from shopping at Hannaford to Market Basket last spring and my grocery bill dropped by $40 a week without changing a thing I buy.

But now I'm wondering if the fuel points at Hannaford are worth going back for since I drive up to Concord every other week anyway, has anyone done the math on that?

You said "only save about 10 cents a gallon" which makes me wonder how much gas you're actually buying. Are you filling up a whole tank every two weeks or just topping off? Because if you drive a compact car with a 12 gallon tank, you're saving like $1.20 per fill up. That's basically nothing. Even if you max out the fuel points discount to 20 or 30 cents, you'd still need to be buying a ton of gas to get anywhere near $40 a month back. And that's not even counting the higher grocery prices you're paying at Hannaford to earn those points in the first place. So yeah, I'm not seeing the math work out unless you drive a semi truck.

Hannaford fuel points only save about 10 cents a gallon, so you'd need to buy a lot of gas to beat that $40 weekly savings.
