Spent $45 on a chest freezer off Facebook and it saved me $600 on beef this winter
Everyone in my circle keeps saying small chest freezers are a waste of electric and I should just buy meat as I need it, but I picked one up in Rochester for $45 back in October and filled it with a quarter cow from a farm in Barrington. Between the bulk price and not running to Market Basket every week for chicken, I figure I came out around $600 ahead, plus the thing pulls about $4 a month in power. Am I missing something on why folks around here still say a freezer is not worth the bother?
