Shoutout to the guy at Concord flea market who told me my prices were too low
I was selling some old vinyl records for $1 each at the flea market last Saturday. This older collector came over and said I was underselling myself badly, especially on the classic rock stuff. He pointed out I had a first pressing of Dark Side of the Moon that could go for $20 easy. I marked a few things up and ended up making $85 more than I usually do that day. Anyone else had a seller or buyer adjust how you price stuff?

Took his advice and went home and actually looked up a few of my old things on Discogs before my next flea market. Turns out I had a first pressing of Led Zeppelin IV that was going for way more than the $2 I was asking. Marked it up to $15 and it sold within the first hour. Now I always check at least the big name stuff before I set up, saved me from giving away way too much good stuff.

Honestly that's a good lesson to learn early. I did something similar but in the opposite direction, I overpriced a common Beatles record for like $40 because I saw one on Discogs listed for that, then spent two years watching it collect dust at flea markets. Took a buddy finally telling me to check the actual sold prices before I realized mine was a later pressing worth maybe $5. Ngl, that was a humbling experience. Now I always check the sold listings tab first, keeps me from looking like a fool with a $40 record nobody wants.
