Shoutout to the Exeter farmers market for the bruised apple score

Went to the Exeter farmers market last Saturday just for eggs and ended up grabbing a 10 pound bag of bruised apples for 4 bucks. They were marked down because of some soft spots, but I peeled and chopped them for applesauce and pie filling. Made 6 jars of sauce and 2 pies from that one bag, so it worked out to real cheap per meal. I learned that asking the vendors if they have a seconds bin pays off, most of them just leave that stuff in the back. The guy running the stall even threw in a free bag of ugly carrots. Anyone else have luck with these discount produce bags at their local markets?
