So the flyer last week had chicken thighs for $1.99 a pound and I made it my mission. Store one in Concord was wiped out by 9am, store two in Hooksett had maybe 4 packs left and they were all bone in skin on which was fine but picked over. Store three in Manchester I didn't even get out of the car, parking lot was packed like it was Black Friday. By store four in Bedford I was ready to give up and just grab whatever, and that's when I noticed the meat guy wheeling out a cart of markdowns. Turns out the store had a ton of the family packs that were dated the next day and he was slapping 50% off stickers on them, so I got 6 pounds for $8 total which beat the flyer price by a mile. What I learned is the sale price gets all the traffic but the day old stuff nobody talks about is where the real win is, at least at that location. Now I just ask the guy at the counter when they do markdowns instead of chasing flyers all over the state. Anyone else figured out their local store's markdown schedule, and is it usually mornings or evenings for you?
