Heads up on the Market Basket meat deals in Concord
Went to the Market Basket on Fort Eddy Road yesterday around 4pm. That family pack of ground beef marked down to $3.99? Opened it at home and it was already turning gray on the bottom. Not the first time I've noticed this with their discount meat stickers. Anyone else finding the sell-by dates are way too close on these 'deals'?

Wait, are you sure it was actually a discount sticker and not a reseal? I've seen some weird stuff there where people swap tags from cheaper meat onto pricier cuts. Also, check the bottom of the package next time - sometimes the real sell-by date is printed under the sticker, not on top. That gray color could be from the meat sitting on a metal shelf too long instead of being rotated. Might be worth taking a photo next time and showing the manager, they're usually pretty good about refunds if you catch them same day.

Funny you mention that, I had a similar thing happen at a different store a few months back. Bought what I thought was a discounted pack of chicken thighs, got home and the bottom layer was that weird gray color you're describing. Turned out the discount sticker was covering up a "manager's special" sticker from two days earlier. Took it back with a photo of the whole mess, manager didn't even blink, just refunded it on the spot. Now I always peel the sticker back a little to see what's underneath before I buy anything with a discount tag.
