Hannaford vs Market Basket: I finally tracked my grocery bills for 3 months straight

Everyone raves about Market Basket being cheaper, but I tested both stores in Manchester for 3 months. I saved $22 a month at Market Basket but their produce would go bad in 3 days. Hannaford's stuff lasted a full week and their store brand is actually good. I'd rather pay a bit extra than throw out half my veggies, you know? What's your experience been with produce quality between the two?

Read in the Union Leader a few months back that Market Basket actually has the highest produce turnover in the state. They sell the most volume. But that doesn't mean the stuff sitting out is fresh. I've noticed their bags of spinach and spring mix get slimy way faster than Hannaford's. Honestly, the markup at Hannaford is worth it for things like berries and leafy greens.

Hate to be that person, @coleman.seth, but slimy greens usually mean they're past their prime regardless of the store.
