Bought a $40 'as seen on tv' moisture trap for my basement in Manchester. Total scam.

Yeah I actually bought one of those from a drugstore for like $30 a few years back. I was totally skeptical but my buddy swore by them so I gave it a shot. After a week I checked the tray and it had maybe a tablespoon of water in it. In a damp basement that's basically nothing. I feel dumb for falling for it too but honestly it changed my mind on those cheap dehumidifiers. Now I just use a proper electric one even though it costs more upfront. Those little bucket things are really just a gimmick to make you feel like you're doing something.

@gfisher.charlie I get why you say that but I actually had a different experience with mine. I put one of those DampRid buckets in my closet and it filled up in like 3 weeks with actual liquid. My basement is super musty too so maybe it just depends on the humidity level or how sealed up the space is. For $40 I can see why you'd be pissed though if it didn't do anything.
