Pro tip: I swapped my card wallet for a rubber band and my pocket has never been lighter
I got tired of my card wallet digging into my leg at work, so on Monday I dumped it and wrapped my debit card, ID, and one $20 in a plain rubber band. I figured it would fall apart by lunch, but it held all week and my front pocket feels about 2 ounces lighter. The weird part is I actually use my cards faster now because I can see all of them at once. The rubber band did snap on Thursday though, so I'm wondering if a hair tie holds up better or if I should just go back to a slim wallet. Anyone run a pocket setup like this and find something that lasts more than a week?
Did you ever notice how we tend to over build stuff that doesn't need it? Same thing happens with phone cases that cost more than the phone, or coffee makers with twelve buttons when you just want hot water. The rubber band worked better than the wallet because it was simple and did one job. That's the pattern I keep seeing, the simple fix beats the fancy one until it breaks. Maybe try a thicker elastic or a bread bag clip thing?
