Two-factor authentication ruined my convenience and I'm not sorry

I used to think 2FA was just a hassle, and I rolled my eyes every time a site made me use it. But after my own email got hacked back in February 2023 because I reused a password from 2017, I spent a week cleaning up the mess. That one change saved me from having to explain to my dispatch why my trucking app login was compromised. Has anyone else seen their accounts get hit after ignoring this for too long?

Glad you came around to it. But I gotta say, it's not really "way less painful" once you get used to it, it's more like you just stop noticing it after a week or two. The key is having the app right on your phone so it's just a quick tap instead of waiting for a text message.

February 2023 is exactly when I got hit too (stolen credentials from a forum breach I didn't even know about). I use an authenticator app now for anything with my bank or work stuff, and it's way less annoying than resetting 40 passwords at 2am. Just pick one app and stick with it, your future self will thank you.

Used to be that guy rolling my eyes every time 2FA popped up (like come on, I just want to check my email). But after hearing stories like yours and charles' I finally caved and it's honestly way less painful than I thought it'd be.
