Talk with a guy at Best Buy changed how I look at passwords

He told me most hacks come from reused passwords, not complex ones, and that hit different after I counted 14 accounts sharing the same one. Has anyone else changed their whole password setup after hearing something simple like that?

Cried a little inside when I realized my go-to password was just "password123" for like half my life. Then I found out one of my old accounts got hacked and the only thing they did was change my profile picture to a cat meme, which was honestly kind of a glow up. Now I use a password manager and my only complaint is that I can never remember which one of my 47 different passwords goes with what. Did you end up switching to a manager or just making a really memorable phrase that you'd never forget until you try to log in at 2am?

Yeah the "47 different passwords" thing is way too real. I tried the memorable phrase route and ended up with something like "MyDogAteMyHomeworkIn1999" which I thought was genius until I had to type it on a phone keyboard at 3am with one eye open. That was the moment I gave in and downloaded a password manager. My only regret is not doing it sooner honestly, because now I just make every password a keyboard smash and let the manager handle it. The cat meme hack though is kind of iconic, at least they had taste. Better than getting your account deleted or having them post weird stuff to your feed.
